It may come as no surprise to anyone that I like clever retellings and mashups of old stories.
I know, I know. You are shocked.
I know, I know. You are shocked.
So which one do I read next? I've been eyeing a few worthy candidates and have decided to put two up in a poll over on ye olde Facebooke. Ideally, I've love to read the most popular of the two, then review it here on my blog. The two I've settled on for my first read are CINDER (The Lunar Chronicles, Book #1), by Marissa Meyer and SHERWOOD by Meagan Spooner. One is a dystopian retelling of Cinderella, the other a new take (and new release!) on the Robin Hood legend.
I have never read a book by Meyer before, but I have read Spooner's book HUNTED - an interesting retelling of Beauty and the Beast + some Russian folklore. And, I was mostly on board with it. Mostly. I tend to lean much more toward epic fantasy and have actually not read a lot of dystopian-type stuff. Some, but not nearly enough. So CINDER would be veering ever-so-slightly off the beaten path for me. SHERWOOD is sticking a little closer to home, and I would be lying if I said I'm not sort of in love with the art on the cover. I mean...seriously.
So...decisions, decisions.
What do you think? Which of these two books should I read and review first? SHERWOOD is a relatively new release, so I know many won't have read it. If you've read CINDER, what did you think of it?

Oh, and speaking of fairy-tale mashups and retellings: did you know my book DAMSELLE IN DISTRESS is available for the newly lower price of $4.99 and also FREE on Kindle Unlimited?
